Writing lesson #6 explores each child’s emotions and includes a full week of writing about feelings. Feelings are an important element of the narrative genre. The reader will feel the emotions of the main character through the use of the writer’s word choice. Yet before a writer is able choose the correct words, he/she must be in touch with their own feelings and the words that best portray those feelings.
Through mirrors, partner work, and illustrations, children will get in touch with their own emotions. They will explore, react, and watch each other to learn to judge and interpret facial expressions as a sign of how a person feels inside.
This packet includes step-by-step instructions, all templates, and actual student writing samples for assessment.
